The 9th World Congress of Chemical Engineering (WCCE9) incorporating the 15th Asian Pacific Confederation of Chemical Engineering Congress (APCChE2013) was held by WCEC and APCChE, and undertaken by Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers (KIChE) from August 18th to 23rd in Seoul, Korea. Four professors and four Ph.D. students from our laboratory attended this conference.
Prof. Bo-Geng Li, dean of the Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering, was invited as one member of International Advisory Committee. He hosted the plenary report of Dr. Tianpu Wang, General Manager of SINOPEC and also gave a keynote lecture titled “Digital manufacture: Could Become a Methodology for Polymer Product Engineering?” in a branch session. Prof. Wen-Jun Wang was invited to host two branch sessions and gave a lecture titled “Preparation of CO2/N2-triggered Reversibly Coagulatable and Redispersible Latexes”. Prof. Hong Fan and Prof. Yongzhong Bao gave lectures titled “Structure and Composition Effects of Siloxane-containing Adduct on Chemical Modification of Thermosetting Resin” and “Preparation of Meso-microporous Carbons based on Vinylidene Chloride Copolymers via Templating Methods” respectively. Meanwhile, the four Ph.D. students presented their research work in the poster show. The professors and students were also invited to visit Yonsei University by its Department of Chemical Engineering, and attended Yonsei Global Network Forum. This forum invited more than 20 experts and researchers from departments of chemical engineering of 11 universities including Carnegie Mellon University、Northwestern University、ETH Zurich et al, and conducted a 2-day academic exchange.
WCCE is held once every four years and APCChE is held once every two years. Both of them are large-scale, and have a long history in the world chemical engineering and high visibility.
