The State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering was established with the approval of Ministry of Education of China in 1987. It was opened and started operation in 1991. The State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering has four branches located in Zhejiang University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University and East China University of Science and Technology respectively.
The State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering (Zhejiang University) is located in Yuquan Campus. The major research focuses on polymerization industry which occupies most of total output value of petrochemical industry. The main research fields of the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering (Zhejiang University) are Polymerization Process Engineering and Polymer Product Engineering, which have four research directions including Maximization of the Efficiency of the Polymerization Process, Controllability of Polymer Product Structures, Green Polymerization and Polymer Products, and Practicability of Functional Polymer Materials.
The State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering (Zhejiang University) has 20 members including one Chief Scientist of National “973” Key Basic Research Project (Professor Bo-geng LI), one Distinguished Professor of Yangtse River Scholar (Professor Bo-geng LI), three China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists winners (Professor Bo-geng LI, Professor Yingwu LUO and Professor Youqing SHEN), and six members are supported by Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University (Professor Lianfang FENG, Professor Yingwu LUO, Professor Guorong SHAN, Professor Yongzhong BAO, Professor Jinyang ZHENG, and Professor Dongqiang LIN).
The State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering (Zhejiang University) has contributed significantly to the basic study, key research projects, technology achievement transformation, international cooperation, and talent cultivation of China.
