Ideal ecofriendly and green polymers represent the polymers whose raw materials, polymerization process, processing, and final products are all harmless to the environment and human health. Our laboratory has been applying the principles of green chemistry and chemical engineering to all the areas of polymer production. On the basis of the use and transformation of renewable resources as well as the developments of ecofriendly polymerization, catalysis, processing, and polymeric materials, we are aiming to establish the new theories and technologies for the ecofriendly polymerization, processing, and modification of polymeric materials.
This mainly includes the developments of water-in-water, aqueous-precipitation, and supercritical polymerization technologies, as well as the production processes and technologies of aqueous chlorinated polymers, waterborne coatings and inkers.
This mainly includes the gas-phase polymerization of rubber, melt polycondensation of polyester and polyamide, and solvent-free production technologies of powder coatings and waterborne polyurethane.
This mainly includes the supercritical CO2-assitted processing and reactive injection technology of polymers.
This mainly includes the development, modification, functionalization, and application of bio-based/biodegradable polymeric materials.
